My charity this year is the Robert Johns Leukaemia Fund and is a local charity which was started in 1983 by Bob Johns, in
memory of his son Robert who died after fighting the disease for five long years. Robert was only 11 years old when he
died. This year is the 25th anniversary of the charity and I hope that as many of you as possible will help me to raise as
much money as we can towards it.
In this respect can I bring to your attention the lake on the eighth hole which has now been dubbed ‘Captain Pugwash’s’
lake for 2008, and to the fact it will cost you all 50p for each golf ball you send swimming in it. It is voluntary but it’s for a
great cause so please put your money in the bottle which is on the bar in the Clubhouse.
